In the midst of a legal battle between Canal+ and TF1, M6 and the Videndi subsidiary have announced that they are renewing their broadcasting agreement. All the channels of the group led by Nicolas de Tavernost will therefore continue to be available via a Canal+ subscription, the two companies jointly announced. On the side of TF1, the situation is still blocked.
It is undeniably the soap opera (no pun intended) of the new school year. On September 2, Canal+ announced that it would cease broadcasting the channels of the TF1 group. In question, sums considered exorbitant by the Videndi subsidiary demanded by TF1 which mean that the situation is still unresolved todaymore than two months after the outbreak of hostilities.
In the midst of all this affair, M6 seems to want to play the appeasement card. This Monday, October 24, Canal+ and the group jointly announced in a press release the renewal of the broadcast chains of the latter. The four DTT channels (M6, W9, 6ter, Gulli), the thematic pay channels (Paris Première, téva, M6 Music, etc.) and finally the digital platforms will continue to be covered by the Canal+ subscription.

“This agreement covers the continued distribution of all M6 Group channels, as well as the non-linear services and features associated with these channels within Canal+ offers”, can we read in the press release. The document does not reveal any figures regarding the price of this agreement, or otherwise the duration of it. What to suggest that this one could have been precipitated by the unprecedented situation between Canal+ and TF1.
In parallel, thehe showdown between the two groups does not seem ready to be resolved. If justice recently ruled in favor of Canal +, TF1 obviously has no plans to let go. Especially since the company may well have found a solution thanks to a subsidiary of Orange, which could resume broadcasting its channels via the TNT Sat satellite. To be continued.
