Canceled multiplayer Spider-Man game hits the web

During the hacking of Insomniac Games data last December, 1.6 TB of data was stolen. Some of them had also been leaked, revealing a lot of personal information concerning employees. If images and videos of the game
Wolverine have been made public, today we are looking at the canceled projects. Because the PlayStation studio had a multiplayer Spider-Man game in the works.

Indeed, a trailer presenting the game was posted online, before being removed. We could hear Yuri Lowenthal, the actor who lends his voice to Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man. He acted as narrator. It presented an open Manhattan in which 5 incarnations of Spider-Man joined forces against the Sinister Six. Peter Parker and Miles Morales were obviously present, accompanied by Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man 2099 and Scarlet Spider.

An aborted live-service

It therefore seems that the project was mainly a live-service cooperative title. Like a Marvel’s Avengers, it would therefore have been necessary to complete missions to stop the villains. All probably gaining experience and loot to unlock new powers and cosmetics. In short, everything that we find in this type of game which seeks above all to monetize everything that can be monetized.

But its cancellation is probably to be found elsewhere. And not necessarily far away, since another multiplayer project died at PlayStation not so long ago. As
The Last of Us Online, we can easily imagine that the studio would have had to invest too much time in this project. To prevent Insomniac Games from devoting itself solely to this title and continuing to develop other single-player games, the multiplayer game Spider-Man: The Great Web would therefore have been canceled.
