For his new fall-winter 2020 campaign, Kurt Geiger puts the spotlight on people with disabilities. This season, it is Bernadette Hagans who has the privilege of representing the English brand through a shoot that could not be more inspiring.
While brands are opening up more to diversity, the English luxury house Kurt Geiger is taking a new turn this season by choosing as muses women who are still far too under-represented in the fashion industry. For its new fall-winter 2020 campaign, the English brand has indeed decided to honor people with disabilities by calling on Bernadette Hagans, cancer survivor model and a leg amputee. The 24-year-old lost her leg in 2018 after being diagnosed with a very rare cancer: synovial sarcoma, a rare and aggressive soft tissue tumor. But illness did not stop her from pursuing her modeling career. On the contrary, the courage and perseverance of Bernadette have become an example for many women.
An inspiring advertising campaign
Despite illness and disability, Bernadette Hagans continued to believe in her dreams and she was right because brands are now interested in her profile. We could not be more grateful, the young woman confided how happy she is to be able to become a model for other women. "It's great to see women like me represented because unfortunately that doesn't happen often. This campaign proves that the difference can also be beautiful"Said the model in an interview published on the site of the brand of which she is the muse. On the pictures of the campaign, Bernadette is simply radiant. Confident and at ease in front of the camera, she here likes the fact that her leg is not always the center of attention. "I like that you don't always see my leg in the photos.", she confided. To be regarded as a model like the others, such is her dearest wish and Kurt Geiger returns it to her very well!
