Cannes: International film festival to be postponed

The International Cannes Film Festival will be postponed for the time being. The organizers announced this on Thursday. Actually, the film festival should have taken place in mid-May, but due to the corona crisis, the estimated date could not be kept.

Decision should be made later

One is considering several options, according to an official statement. At the moment, the organizers have tended to simply postpone the film festival until the end of June or the beginning of July 2020 – that is, only by a few weeks. The final decision will only be made later if further developments are foreseeable.

At this time of the "health crisis", the organizers' thoughts were with all Covid 19 victims and sufferers, it is said. They also asked for "Solidarity for the whole world in this difficult time".
