From the first glance, we feel the relationship between the newly announced Canon PowerShot V10 and the Canon Legria Mini and Mini X released 10 years ago. Same design, same vocation… we even come to wonder why Canon chose to stamp its PowerShot device, a range devoted to compact cameras, rather than Legria, representing camcorders.

1 inch sensor and 4K video

Canon Powershot V10: a new device for vlogging with an air of deja vu

More compact than a smartphone with dimensions of 63.4 x 90 x 34.3 mm and only 211 g, the Canon PowerShot V10 is an amazing foldable camera that can be stored in a pocket or bag. This small box contains a 2-inch hinged adjustable screen as well as a kickstand to put the device down without using a tripod.

Image capture is entrusted to a 1-inch backlit sensor, much larger than that of smartphones and other on-board cameras. The 6.6 mm f/2.8 fixed lens offers a 19 mm focal length (in eq. 24×36) allowing in particular selfie shooting. The Canon PowerShot V10 records footage to a micro SD card at up to 4K 30fps or 1080p 60fps, in 9:16 or 16:9 as needed.

On the sound side, this model has an omnidirectional stereo microphone on which you can attach noise-canceling windshields to limit wind interference. Videographers wishing to go further can connect an external microphone using the 3.5mm mini-jack.
