Canon expected to launch up to 32 new RF lenses by 2025

Canon only entered the full-frame hybrid photography market in 2018, but the Japanese firm intends to offer a large optical fleet very quickly. Thus, in just under four years, Canon has already launched 26 lenses and does not intend to stop there. According to the latest projection report published by the company on March 7, Canon would like to release every year, and until 2025, as many optics as during the years 2020 and 2021.

This therefore corresponds to eight lenses per year, which would bring us to 32 new optics by 2025 and would bring the total of the RF fleet to 58 “pebbles”! In just 7 years, Canon would thus reach the same level as Sony with its E-mount in 12 years (excluding third-party manufacturers). No doubt we will also see an APS-C range pointing the tip of its nose.

In the same press release, Canon also announced its desire to remain the world’s leading photo manufacturer and to become one in hybrid photography, an area where Sony remains a major challenger. In addition, the company would target, for the sales of its image division, the 8 billion euros in turnover, while being careful not to specify the deadline.
