Capcom: big change for the RE Engine, something to amaze players?

In 2017, Capcom launched Resident Evil 7: Biohazardan excellent survival horror in the first person who gave a second youth to his cult franchise, and who used the brand new game engine RE Enginefor magnificent graphics and careful optimization. An engine since used in Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter Rise, Street Fighter 6 And the others resident Evil released since then.

But here it is RE Engine is now six years old, and Capcom thinks about the future to offer ever more impressive games. The Japanese studio thus presented the evolution of its game engine in an unexciting video posted on his channel Youtube R&D. In the information to remember, THE REX Engine will retain all the qualities of the engine Capcomwhile supporting new graphics technologies and even better managing large assets. Furthermore, it seems that Capcom in the future would like to allow third party developers to use its REX Engine.

Regarding the name, fans of Dino Crisis obviously immediately saw a link between the REX Engine and the T-Rexbut it is still good to remember that Capcom likes to have fun with titles. The full name of RE Engineeven though it was launched with a resident Evilis good Reach for the Moon Enginetherefore nothing to do with the frankness of survival horror.

At any rate, Capcom intends to impress us with the REX Enginebut the change will not happen all at once, the developer will introduce new features into its engine over the years and games. Upcoming titles using the RE Engine will be Pragmata And Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can find Street Fighter 6 from €49.49 on Amazon, Cdiscount, there Fnac And Gamesplanet.
