The site also includes a chronological list of events starting with the digital prologue comic released a month before the game. The other dates relate to the release of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on the various platforms (PS4/Xbox One in 2013, Steam in 2016, Switch in 2019) to finish on the Netflix animated series available since September 2020. However, there is no mention of the free-to-play Dragon’s Dogma Online, a Japanese exclusive released on PS4, PS3 and PC which closed in December 2019.
In 10 years, Capcom has sold 6.2 million Dragon’s Dogma worldwide. If the publisher is already at work on a number of important titles, including Pragmata, Exoprimal and Street Fighter 6, the announcement of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 would undoubtedly have a particular impact as Capcom has little presence in the genre of l action-RPG. When making a choice, director Hideaki Itsuno had also favored a project that was perhaps a little more direct, namely Devil May Cry 5, a success with its 5 million copies distributed. And now the dragon bides its time.
