Behind the “Winter’s Expansion” are actually three new contents: first the additional chapter “Shadows of Rose” which will take place 16 years after the events of the original game; then, a third-person game mode allowing us to relive Ethan’s story from a “new” perspective; and finally, a strong “Mercenaries” mode with the introduction of three new protagonists, namely Chris Redfield, Lady Dimitrescu and Lord Karl Heisenberg. Each of these three newcomers will obviously have their own gameplay which, we are promised, will transfigure the challenge of this mode which has become essential in most opuses in the saga since Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Let’s start with Chris who, in addition to a devastating punch, will be able to count on an Assault gauge which, once filled, will give him much faster movement and reloading, in addition to allowing him to call on the strikes of support of the Hound Wolf unit; Lady Dimitrescu will dominate her enemies with her imposing stature and sharp claws, while her Thrill gauge will allow her to summon her daughters or summarily execute her attackers; finally Heisenberg will be able to count on his hammer, his mastery of magnetic currents and the reinforcement of his Jet Soldiers. Finally, note that two new game environments will accompany this triplet of playable characters: it will be “Bloody Village” and “Bloody River”.
Finally, remember that Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will launch on October 28, as will the “Winter’s Expansion” for players who have already gotten their hands on the original game.
