Capcom reacts, you did well to revolt

It didn’t take long for the players’ rumblings about Dragon’s Dogma 2 to reach the right ears. Capcom quickly came up with a response that was in the right direction.

Things went very quickly for Dragon’s Dogma 2. It received a very cold reception from the community, notably seeing a host of microtransactions released at the same time as the game. Faced with a violent but understandable insurrection, Capcom quickly reacted to save its promising game from the flames of the dragon.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 saved by the Insurgents

Today was the big day for Dragon’s Dogma 2, which finally arrived in the hands of players. Unfortunately, this came with a myriad of microtransactions and pay-to-fast mechanics. The sentence was clear from the community’s side, and the game was the subject of an understandable wave of review bombing. So that the second opus does not fall into oblivion like the first, Capcom had to react, and quickly.

This is precisely what the Japanese giant did. On the game’s Steam page in particular, a long message of apology was sent to the Insurgents. “ We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused », We can read in the preamble. Such disapproval from the community was to be expected, but it is still good to see that it is being listened to. Thus, Capcom announces that it will quickly put in place measures to respond to players’ grievances.

Changes coming for the better

Firstly, the studio is working to fix crashes and instability issues reported by the community. Likewise, the framerate will be the subject of particular attention. In the game engine, the processor is heavily used when rendering characters. Too many of them in the same area can greatly impact the fluidity of the game. Performance should therefore be improved on this terrain very soon.

Finally, let’s tackle the dragon in the room: the microtransactions that have quickly attracted a lot of attention. First of all, Capcom will work on a way to launch a fresh new game. New Game+ is an integral part of the game, but we only have the save of one character. Finally, a large part of the objects sold as paid DLC can be obtained directly in the game. This concerns, for example, an object allowing you to change your appearance, a transportable object for rapid travel, or even crystals to recruit Pawns.

You can read Capcom’s message in full via the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam page (in English, however).
