Capcom (Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter) alienates players with a “new” DRM

For a few days, the players growl at Capcom. The Japanese studio usually includes the DRM Denuvo to avoid piracy of its recent games, then to remove it afterwards. But Internet users have highlighted another DRM, Enigmawhich seems to cause problems in certain titles, sometimes very old.

If the presence of DRM Enigma is not very new to gaming Capcomthe Japanese studio is having fun updating some of its old titles to include it, like Resident Evil Revelations, which dates from 2013 all the same. A patch which caused a lot of technical problems, it was quickly removed, but Capcom announces that the update will return. Players didn’t wait to get the game down Steamwhich has “extremely negative” recent reviews, while on Reddit, several Internet users have complained about performance issues and evenincompatibility with the Steam Deck.

In fact, well most players have not noticed the addition in other games of Capcomperformance is very good and the titles run perfectly on the Steam Deck of Valve. But the players’ discontent is real, many are wondering what is the point of adding a DRM in such old games… Well it is mainly to counter the mods. As recalled Polygon, Capcom is at war against modders which alter their games and therefore their image, use a DRM remains a good way to counter them.

At any rate, Capcom alienates a lot of players with this DRM Enigma, which nevertheless enjoyed a good image thanks to its successful ports to PC in recent years. You can find all the games Capcom on Gamesplanet.
