Captain America 4: Harrison Ford is having less fun than expected at Marvel

Harrison Ford had agreed to join the MCU for fun, but he realizes that these movies mostly require a lot of work.

Starring in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on June 28, Harrison Ford is currently filming Captain America: New World Order in which he plays Thaddeus Ross (role previously played by the late William Hurt) alias Red Hulk.

The 80-year-old actor announced last February that he had joined the MCU for fun. “I can’t explain it to myself, but I thought everyone looked like they were having a good time.

All of these great actors look like they’re having a lot of fun in the Marvel movies. I like to do different things from what I have already done and make people happy. So I’m going to try to do all of that for Marvel.”

But in a recent interview with American media Esquire, Harrison Ford said shooting a Marvel movie was ultimately more complicated than he thought. When the journalist asks him if he is having as much fun as expected, Harrison Ford replies:

There are hard days, easy days, fun days, and all kinds of days. It is a challenging but fun program. But this is no walk in the park. It’s not funny. It’s work.”

It’s not funny. It’s work.

The actor will then reprise his role in Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts alongside Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Steven Yeun and David Harbour. In these two feature films, Harrison Ford embodies Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross who will be here the President of the United States according to the words of Kevin Feige.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character appears for the first time in the comic book “Incredible-Hulk” #1 in 1962. The US Air Force general has a secret identity: Red Hulk nicknamed Rulk.

And to see Harrison Ford in costume as this superhero is one of the big expectations of his future colleague David Harbour, who takes the role of Red Guardian in Black Widow and in the upcoming film. Thunderbolts.

“If I get the chance to see this happen and get to experience it, I would really savor it. I mean, can you imagine Harrison Ford looking angry in a green suit with ping pong balls all over it?“said the actor to the site ComicBook.com last February.

David Harbor will nevertheless have to wait a bit since the filming of Thunderbolts has been put on hold due to the writers’ strike. Captain America: New World Order is supposed to be released on May 1, 2024 in our theaters and Thunderbolts is scheduled for July 24, 2024, but these dates may change due to the production delay.
