Captain Marvel 2: "Candyman" director Nia DaCosta is supposed to shoot the sequel

An aspiring director is apparently entrusted with the billion-dollar franchise "Captain Marvel". Nia DaCosta is supposed to shoot the sequel.

Disney has apparently found a director for the second part of "Captain Marvel" – and the choice can be described as surprising. According to the US industry website "Deadline", Nia DaCosta (30) should be responsible for shooting. The young filmmaker only made her debut as a feature film director about two years ago with the western "Little Woods". In all likelihood, her second film will hit the cinemas this year – a reboot of the horror film series "Candyman".

At just 30 years of age, DaCosta could have made it to the top of Hollywood's blockbuster realms. The footsteps she would follow as a "Captain Marvel 2" director, however, are great. The first part with Oscar winner Brie Larson (30, "Space") in the title role received very mixed criticism, but the flick by Anna Boden (40) and Ryan Fleck (43) alluded to over 1.13 billion US dollars the worldwide box office.

If the planned start is not postponed further due to the corona pandemic, the superhero Captain Marvel is to start her second cinema adventure in July 2022.
