Car rammed – Two racing cyclists seriously injured in the accident

Three racing cyclists in the Innviertel overlooked that a car was about to turn in front of them, or the driver overlooked the cyclists. It crashed and two athletes ended up in the hospital.

A 49-year-old driver from Pischelsdorf an Engelbach steered at around 6:45 p.m. on the municipal road in the municipal area of Feldkirchen near Mattighofen in the direction of Kampern. At the Feldkirchen sports field, the driver intended to turn left towards a parking lot, braked and signalled. At the same time, three racing cyclists between the ages of 45 and 59 hit their racing bikes on the same municipal road in the opposite direction – and there was a crash. The 59-year-old cyclist was first thrown against the windscreen of the car and then came to rest on the asphalt. The 45-year-old riding behind the 59-year-old – both from Bürmoos in Salzburg – collided with his 59-year-old friend’s racing bike. The 45-year-old fell and stayed on the asphalt. The third racing driver was able to brake and dodge in time and prevent an accident. After initial treatment, the 59-year-old was taken to the accident hospital in Salzburg by the “C6” rescue helicopter. The 45-year-old was taken to the Braunau hospital after first aid by the Red Cross Eggelsberg. The driver was unharmed in the accident.
