The NFL pro’s condition has improved following Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest earlier this week. “Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” the Buffalo Bills said. His club tweeted that he was still “in critical condition” but “appeared to be neurologically intact.”

According to one of the treating doctors, the 24-year-old was awake in the meantime and communicated in writing. His friend and marketing advisor Jordon Rooney was cautiously optimistic: “Things are going in a positive direction at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Buffalo was back in training to prepare for Sunday’s final game of the regular season against the New England Patriots. It remains to be seen whether the game will actually take place.

Hamlin collided with an opponent on Monday. After the 24-year-old initially got up again, he collapsed and was later placed in an artificial coma in the hospital.
