Volta Medical, a Marseille-based medical start-up using artificial intelligence for cardiology, has raised 36 million euros to develop its products, it announced on Thursday. Volta, founded in 2016, has notably developed software that helps guide cardiologists in the operating room in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, the most common cardiac arrhythmia in the world.

Ultimately, this technology could help optimize catheter ablation procedures for complex arrhythmias, Volta argues. The round was led by US venture capital group Vensana Capital, along with Lightstone Ventures and existing investor Gilde Healthcare. This funding will support additional clinical studies. The operation brings to more than 70 million euros the total funds raised by the company since its creation.
