Carla Bruni: singer Didier Barbelivien confides in their friendship, “I love her like a sister”


At 70, Didier Barbelivien continues to reinvent himself. After music, it is in literature that he intends to find success. Indeed, the author will publish his first “real” novel on February 7 with Fayard, titled The only way to love. A fatal love story between a young 16-year-old high school student and her 40-year-old teacher, this novel is highlighted in a portrait of the writer published in Point this February 3. The opportunity for the latter to say more about his creative process. In this regard, Didier Barbelivien explained that he only gave the proofs of his text to his female friends, all of whom are cited at the end of the novel. Among them was Carla Bruni, whose the musician is very close.

On this very singular relationship, the artist confided in our colleagues at Pointrevealing that he loves her “like a sister”before continuing: “If we see each other often? Yes, fortunately.” The two friends thus seem to be inseparable. The musician also maintains very good relations with the singer’s husband, Nicolas Sarkozy. Last summer, the three went on vacation together. “She and Nicolas are like my family”, explained Didier Barbelivien. The two men met 40 years ago, during a Michel Sardou concert. Since then, their friendship has not changed. “I’m not the type of guy who has relationships. I can live alone, I don’t go out, I spend a lot of time in the countryside with my dog. Between Nicolas Sarkozy and him, it’s a “family relationship”

This is not the first time that the Eurovision 1978 candidate has mentioned his affection for Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni. In 2022, on the show One world, one look on Public Senate, Didier Barbelivien said: “We have a family relationship with the former President of the Republic which has been going on for forty years now.” He exalted: “Nicolas, it’s a natural history. I love his spontaneity, his truth, his errors, his faults, his qualities, I like it. It is without filtera bit like me.”
