“We’ve been rehearsing since September. Now we can finally get started,” says Andrea Mulitzer happily. The girl from Plainfeld (Flachgau) is a member of the local carnival guild, which in the coming weeks will be inviting audiences from near and far to four-hour fun in the elementary school’s gym musical and acting skills at their best. Whether politics, family or church: the Plainfelders fooled everyone. 100 percent of the income remains in Flachgau. “Half the village is here and helps out,” says Wilhelm Kollmann, chairman of the carnival guild. Whether in the kitchen, in service or behind the stage: around 40 volunteers work in the background. “Everyone supports us and that is really great. Because all the income that we will collect in the eight meetings will benefit charitable purposes,” says the chairman. It is still unclear where exactly the money will go. “But it will definitely stay in Flachgau,” says Kollmann. The Plainfeld fools dance and sing until Shrove Monday.
