Michael and Carole Middleton have withdrawn from the public eye in recent months – partly to care for their daughter Catherine, Princess of Wales, who is suffering from cancer. After Kate’s comeback at “Trooping the Colour”, the Middletons are now also daring to step back into the spotlight.

It was probably the best birthday present that Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, could only do this for her father-in-law King Charles, 75: After months of absence, Kate celebrated last Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the birthday parade “Trooping the Colour” with the monarch and the British royal family and made her first public appearance in 2024.

A decision that Catherine’s parents Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, also took as an opportunity to make their presence known in England’s high society. The couple attended the traditional horse race in Ascot on Wednesday, June 19th and can be seen smiling and in good spirits in the first photos. While Michael Middleton opted for a classic tailcoat and top hat, Carole Middleton ushered in the summer with a light blue summer dress with floral prints.

During their visit to Ascot, the Middletons can also look forward to a very special encounter: their son-in-law Prince William, 41, is also at the racecourse and is having an animated conversation with his wife’s parents. He also holds hands with his mother-in-law for a few moments.

Carole Middleton is like Mary Poppins to the Wales family

After Catherine, Princess of Wales, had to undergo abdominal surgery in January of this year and announced her cancer diagnosis with the world a few weeks later, Carole Middleton in particular is said to be supporting her daughter and her grandchildren as best she can. According to the British magazine “Marie Claire”, the 69-year-old is said to be Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, have become a kind of “Mary Poppins figure”, while she is the “rock” in the surf for her daughter Kate and her husband Prince William. “The Middletons are clearly a very, very important part of Kate and William’s life,” explained royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams in an interview with “Marie Claire” and emphasized: “We know that there is an enormously strong bond between their mother [und] their parents, including siblings, and also that they live in close proximity or relatively close to each other.”

A friend of the Middletons can only confirm this and explains in an interview with the “Independent”: “Carole is the driving force that holds the family together and supports them endlessly. She is a real Mary Poppins-like figure.”
