For Caroline von Hannover, 67, March has been the most important month of the year for many years: the Rose Ball takes place. The prestigious event was launched in 1954 by Princess Grace of Monaco, †52, and since her tragic death in 1982, her daughter Caroline has continued the tradition in the “Salle des Étoiles des Sporting Monte-Carlo”. An evening in which the principality, according to its own statements, surrounds itself “with pomp and splendor” and immerses itself in “a festive atmosphere”.

While Caroline has always been accompanied to the event by her brother Prince Albert, 66, the Monegasque woman has also been able to look forward to the continuous support of her children since 2006: On March 25, 2006, her three eldest children Andrea, then 21, Charlotte, then 19, and Pierre, then 18, celebrated their Rose Ball premiere together and created moments that will remain unforgettable. It was later even reported in French media that “Caroline’s children were the stars of the Rose Ball.” The youngest child, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, 24, celebrated her Rose Ball debut in 2015.

The reason: Although the Rose Ball in 2006 was dedicated to reggae music, the then 21-year-old did not want to wear an outfit that was related to this theme. Instead, Charlotte appeared in a delicate, strapless evening dress in soft pink with feathers and a short, black glitter jacket.

Charlotte Casiraghi was not only accompanied that evening by her parents and brothers, her boyfriend at the time Felix Winckler – the two were supposedly in a relationship from 2004 to 2007 – was also allowed to take part in the special evening. And Andrea Casiraghi also brought his girlfriend and now wife Tatiana Santo Domingo, 40, to the top-class event.

While Charlotte and Andrea Casiraghi mainly enjoyed themselves on the dance floor, their younger brother Pierre preferred to chat with the other guests and clearly felt comfortable in the crowd.

And Caroline and Prince Ernst August of Hanover, 70, also had fun! Whether during the exclusive dinner…

… or on the dance floor: The couple had a great time! At the time, they didn’t know that they would be attending their last Rose Ball together in just two years.

“The Rose Ball is a symbol of glamour”

In 2024, the Rose Ball will have the motto “Disco,” and for the third time in a row, designer Christian Louboutin, 61, will be responsible for the decoration of the Star Hall and the organization of the evening. “The Rose Ball is a symbol of glamor and maintains the fascinating legend of Monte Carlo, for which it also laid a foundation. The aura is so great that it attracts many visitors from all over the world who are drawn to the dream and magic of Monaco want to be very close,” it says on the city-state’s official website.

It goes on to emphasize: “However, the ball is not just a society event that only serves exuberant celebrations. It is above all a charity event with international appeal, the profits of which come from raffles and other extraordinary prizes (sculptures, paintings…) “The Princesse Grace Foundation has been fully benefiting the Princesse Grace Foundation since 1964. The organization’s goal is to support people in need and disadvantaged children with humanitarian and philanthropic actions.”
