Carrefour drops: Bercy demands a fine of 200 million euros

(AOF) – Strongest drop in the CAC 40, Carrefour fell 7.43% to 13.46 euros while according to La Lettre (formerly La Lettre A), the Ministry of the Economy and Finance would demand 200 million fine of euros against the distributor for the management of its franchise network. Bercy would request the modification of around ten clauses leading to an imbalance between the franchisor and its franchisees.

In a note, Kepler Cheuvreux emphasizes that this is not a decision.

“However, this is the first time that public authorities have taken such a clear and negative position,” notes the analyst. He recalls that in France, franchisees and tenant managers represent more than half of the group’s revenues.

Contacted by AOF, the distributor has not yet responded to our requests.
