PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The French ultra-fast grocery delivery market is consolidating. On Monday, the German start-up Flink announced the acquisition of its French competitor Cajoo, in which Carrefour had invested last year.
Thanks to this acquisition, Flink intends to expand its presence in France, covering the Paris region and eight other major cities by the end of the second quarter.
“Carrefour, an early investor and exclusive business partner of Cajoo, will become Flink’s exclusive partner on the French market and a direct shareholder of the company,” Flink said in a statement.
As it did for Cajoo, Carrefour will supply Flink with a large part of its assortment, including its own brands as well as organic and exclusive products. The inventor of the hypermarket also intends to rely on the logistical and operational capacities of Flink and on its network of stores to accelerate its own “quick commerce” service, Carrefour Sprint.
