(AOF) – Carrefour is well oriented (+1.42% to 16.09 euros) after indicating that its Brazilian subsidiary returned to profit in the first quarter. Taking advantage of the increase in food prices since the start of the year, Carrefour Brazil posted an adjusted net profit of 52 million reals compared to an adjusted net loss of 375 million reals. Its adjusted gross operating margin (Ebitda) improved by 1.4 percentage points year-on-year in the first quarter, to 5.7%.
In the first quarter, Carrefour’s Brazilian activities represented 23.3% of the distributor’s consolidated turnover, or 5.17 billion euros.
