Carrefour: the vegetarian offer has tripled in two years – 08/30/2022 at 15:51


(CercleFinance.com) – Carrefour announced on Tuesday that it had tripled the number of imitation meat product references in two years in order to meet the growing demand of these customers wishing to turn to a more plant-based diet.

The distributor recalls that it is developing its own-brand vegetarian or vegan product offering on the basis of prices that are on average 20% to 30% cheaper than competing brands.

This announcement comes as more than two-thirds of French people over the age of 18 say they are interested in the ‘flexitarian’ diet, an approach which consists of limiting meat consumption to once or twice a week.

Since 2015, the brand has offered its private label in the vegetarian segment with Carrefour Veggie.
