After a very slow start, Carrefour is accelerating its deployment of charging stations: “on average, each hypermarket will have ten electrified spaces and each supermarket five spaces”.
Carrefour is determined to welcome motorists equipped with an electric car. In March 2021, the distribution specialist woke up. In total, for the moment, only 70 charging stations are installed near Carrefour stores. The brand then announced its intention to install 2,000 charging stations for electric vehicles in its stores by 2023.
2000 terminals in 2023, 5000 in 2025
The strategy has just been refined with a second announcement. As a reminder, you will have the choice between two services: a so-called “comfort” charging service, at 22 kW in alternating current, free for the first hour for customers with a loyalty card or the PASS Carrefour card. Then there’s a much faster charging service ranging from 50kW to 350kW.
For this plan, Carrefour has teamed up with two specialists: Driveco and Allego. In total, Carrefour promises 5,000 charging points by 2025“thn average, each hypermarket will have ten electrified spaces and each supermarket five spaces“. The service is called Carrefour Energies, with 700 stations in the car parks of Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets (Market) in France.
No prices known at the moment
For the moment, the price of the charges is not known. However, Allego already offers charging terminals in Casino supermarket car parks, electricity is sold at 0.35 euro/kWh for AC terminals and 0.50 euro/kWh for direct current fast charging.
