Hollywood star reveals losing major roles in ‘The Batman’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ – back to back!

More recently, we have seen it in the series The Great or in the film Le Menu. He will also star in the upcoming horror comedy Renfield alongside another Nicholas, Cage this time around.
Everything therefore seems to be going for the best for the young actor and yet his career has recently come up against some substantial refusals. As reported by Screenrant, it was in an interview with Variety that Nicholas Hoult revealed that he missed out on major roles in The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, all back-to-back.
I did a screen test for Batman and didn’t get the part. A screen test for Top Gun, I didn’t get the part. Then I got the call from Tom Cruise, ‘Hey, how about Mission Impossible? Ok, I got the part. Then I had to drop out because I was already committed to doing some more The Great.
Indeed, he was originally slated to play the main villain in the upcoming Mission: Impossible installment, but had to pull out due to conflicts with his series The Great.

Nicholas Hoult’s statement confirms rumors that he was a frontrunner for the role of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. It would seem that it was therefore played between him and Robert Pattinson. With the DCU looking for a new Batman, there may still be hope for him there…
As for Top Gun: Maverick, the actor did not confirm which role he auditioned for. However, given his age, he was most likely considered for the role of one of Top Gun’s young graduates: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw or Jake “Hangman” Seresin, roles that were eventually landed by Miles Teller, respectively. and Glen Powell. But although he wasn’t cast, however, Tom Cruise contacted Nicholas Hoult personally to offer him a role in Mission: Impossible 7 instead. Unfortunately, his commitment to The Great led to him being replaced by Esai Morales.
The 33-year-old comedian has since gotten back on his feet and landed lead roles in The Menu and Renfield, roles that fully exploit his strengths in playing quirky and eccentric characters. He will also be featured in the next Nosferatu, The Order, Juror #2 and Garfield.
While The Menu is available on VOD, Renfield will be available in theaters from May 31.
