Catch them all ! The Pokémon card game is coming to smartphones

The Pokémon license made a bunch of announcements during its Pokémon Presents conference. Among them, the arrival of a new game: Pokémon Pocket. It is nothing more and nothing less than the virtual version of the playing and collecting card game.

For a long time, the trend of Pokémon cards has not weakened, on the contrary: because the oldest of them become vintage, everyone dives back into their collection. The license is taking the opportunity to launch Pokémon Pocket, the mobile application for the card game, this year.

Pokémon Pocket: what is this new application?

According to the trailer published by Nintendo and its press release, Pokémon Pocket will allow you to collect digital Pokémon cards. With these, it will be possible to launch quick games which will follow simplified rules of the original card game.

If the trailer is to be believed, it will look like, for example, Heartstone. To obtain cards, we can imagine that microtransactions will be expected to purchase the famous boosters Or decks. But it will be possible to unlock some for free, since two boosters (packs of 10 cards each) will be distributed free to each player every day.

The idea is to reproduce the experience of real cards, but on a smartphone. THE boosters open and the cards that are unlocked appear. For each card, it appears that a rarity indicator is displayed. As in playgrounds, it will be possible to exchange cards with friends.

Moreover, certain card designs will reproduce the look of old versions of the game: something to delight the most nostalgic fans. Other cards will be original.

Cardsimmersive» and a Pokémon game coming this year

Some rare cards are called immersive and will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of the illustration they will have. This is reminiscent of the NFT bubble, although here, we are far from it.

Enough to fit into an illustration larger than the card and to discover the world of the Pokémon on the card, with animations.

The difference with the Pokémon Live TCG game (available on smartphones and computers) which already exists, is that it does not require you to buy real cards to obtain them virtually.

No release date has been announced at the moment: we simply know that the application will be released in 2024 and will be available on iOS and Android.
