It wasn’t just her charisma that had a magnetic effect that evening: at the screening of the new film “Borderlands”, actress Cate Blanchett (55) strutted down the red carpet in a design made of spoons. In the photos taken by the photographers in front of the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, the Oscar-winning screen beauty literally shines with a pile of soup cutlery dangling from her upper body.

The actress, known from “The Lord of the Rings”, “Blue Jasmine” and “Elizabeth”, drew attention to herself in an unusual halter neck top made of bent spoons dangling over white cords. The Australian-born actress combined the silver spoon collection with black pleated trousers, pointed black pumps and her shoulder-length hair gelled back in light waves.

First fiery red mane, now metallic mania

At the beginning of the year, Cate Blanchett surprised everyone with a new look and was barely recognizable when the first pictures appeared in her new role as Lilith in the video game adaptation. In them, she wore her blonde hair bright red.

In the sci-fi action comedy, Blanchett returns as bounty hunter Lilith to her old home, the planet Pandora, to fulfil a mission and search for the daughter of the all-powerful Atlas (Édgar Ramírez, 47). The lone fighter would never have imagined that after a few difficulties getting to know each other, she would find friends there and soon form a dysfunctional family of outcasts with them.

The success of their mission includes cooperation with the former soldier Roland (Kevin Hart, 45), the pubescent demolition expert Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt, 16), Tina’s bodyguard Krieg (the German actor and boxer Florian Munteanu, 33), the scientist Dr. Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis, 65) and the robot Claptrap (Jack Black, 54).

“Borderlands” will be in theaters on August 22nd.
