Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton have been married for over 25 years. In recent months, however, there have been increasing signs that the actress’s marriage could be on the rocks – now there is another indication.
Cate Blanchett, 54, and Andrew Upton, 58, both took part in the play The Seagull at the Belvoir St Theater in Australia in 1997. Love at first sight? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! “He thought I was aloof and I thought he was arrogant,” the actress told Vanity Fair years later about their first encounter. However, they would soon change their minds: They fell in love with each other and, as the actress once revealed on the “Ellen Show”, the playwright proposed to Blanchett after three weeks of dating – she said “yes”. The wedding bells rang in December of the same year. They are now the proud parents of four children: sons Dashiell, 22, Roman, 19, and Ignatius, 16, as well as daughter Edith, 8. But now the house blessing is going wrong, as a source emphasizes.
Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton are no longer together
In contrast to his wife, Andrew Upton leads a more withdrawn life. Nevertheless, the screenwriter has accompanied the “Blue Jasmine” actress to film premieres or events in the past. The last time the two appeared together on the red carpet in Cannes was in May, although there were a few people standing between them. They didn’t pose for couple pictures there.

The actress has not been seen with her husband since last summer. In August, they were photographed on a sunny vacation in Ibiza, Daily Mail reported. But after that they were no longer seen in public.
Actress forgoes wedding ring
In addition, Cate Blanchett has been refraining from wearing her wedding ring during her solo appearances on the red carpet since October: whether at Stella McCartney’s catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week 2023 or an event at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in early February . At the latter event, Cate Blanchett was photographed in a good mood alongside her fellow actor Ethan Hawke, 53 – without any significant jewelry on her left hand.

The Oscar winner also went without her wedding ring at the BAFTAs on February 18th. Instead, she wore a large emerald cocktail ring with the dark red Louis Vuitton dress. The missing wedding ring is now a cause for concern, a source tells “Woman’s Day” magazine. “Seeing Cate without her ring really shocked her friends. They’re wondering if things might not be so rosy,” the insider said.
The fact that the 54-year-old and her husband have put one of their homes in Melbourne, Australia, up for sale, according to the Daily Mail, seems to support the theory of a marital crisis. Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton have not yet commented on this matter.
