Caterpillar: hydrogen cogeneration system project

Caterpillar announced on Tuesday the launch of a three-year project to study the feasibility of an all-hydrogen cogeneration system.

To ensure that the generator set operates properly under real conditions, the heat and electricity produced during the entire test phase will be integrated into the network of District Energy St. Paul, a water distribution specialist based in in Minnesota.

The project, which is due to start next year, will be funded in part by the US Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

In its press release, Caterpillar recalls that it already offers a 1250 kW generator capable of operating solely from renewable green hydrogen.
