For many months, Catherine Matausch had to give way to the presentation of the weekend editions of the noon and 7 p.m. newspaper on France 3. And for good reason, the 62-year-old journalist was suffering from lung cancer. Now back on the air, the familiar face of viewers gave an interview to our colleagues from TV Star, this Monday, January 16. She gave reassuring news about her state of health. “I am confident, fighting and in harmony. I was operated on for lung cancer several months ago, this disease is behind me“she said, being more than reassuring.
“Excellent news” for Catherine Matausch, who confessed “never” have done “very careful about his health”. Her cancer was a “first big warning” for her, pushing her to “be serious”. “Everything is fine now”, concluded the presenter of France Télévisions. Very secretive about her private life, the mother of the family waited until she was in remission to confide in her fight against the disease. Shortly before her return to France 3 in August 2022, she had delivered herself in the columns of the magazine TV Major Channels. “Life has been complicated for a year and a half. I chained several sick leaves because, among other things, of lung cancer“she said.

Catherine Matausch also spoke on Instagram. “Coming back from vacation and finding you so faithful to the 19/20 is a great pleasure for me. […]. At each start of the school year, it is also the same happiness to find the teams, the journalists, the regions that make up our identity, to rediscover this taste for working together, the adrenaline of the antenna. Thanks thanks”, she had written. However, the joy will have been short-lived for the journalist since the weekend newspapers will soon be withdrawn from the antenna of France 3. A decision which she strongly deplored with TV Star. “These newspapers are my entire professional life. I did my job with simplicity, passion, rigor, a deep respect for viewers. I must have felt great sadness and incomprehension. These newspapers are an institution”she regretted.
