There has been speculation in advance about the outfit Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, will wear to the coronation of King Charles, 74, on May 6, 2023. A blue detail, no tiara, instead a wreath of flowers – that was the first information for her look. What has been confirmed – and what has not.
Catherine, Princess of Wales: Her earrings pay homage to Princess Diana
The Princess of Wales appears at Westminster Abbey with her husband, Prince William, 40. An extravagant headband by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen consisting of three-dimensional leaf embroidery made of silver bars, crystal and silver threads, which taper upwards like a tiara, is enthroned on her head. Particularly beautiful: Kate opts for earrings with diamonds and South Sea pearls, which feature a horseshoe pattern at the top and intricately linked marquise-cut diamonds below. The earrings once belonged to the late Princess Diana – and are now being used again on this special day.

Kate bets on Alexander McQueen
First photos reveal Kate’s dress: it is an Alexander McQueen model and is made of ivory silk crepe with silver bullion and thread embroidery with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs. The 41-year-old wears a blue cloak of the Royal Victorian Order. White lace pumps complete her special look.

A connection to Kate’s wedding dress
Kate wore the embroidery of the coronation dress back in 2011 – on none other than her own wedding dress, also designed by Sarah Burton, designer and creative director of British fashion house Alexander McQueen. A fond memory for Kate, for sure.
