Homage to Diana’s polka dot dress

Catherine, Princess of Wales not only commemorated Princess Diana with her Garter Day dress, but also honored her with her jewellery.
On Garter Day (June 19), King Charles III, 74, attended the Order Of The Garter service at Windsor Castle for the first time as a monarch. The traditional service for members of the Order of the Garter always takes place on a Monday in June in St. George’s Chapel. In addition to Charles, his family were also present, including son Prince William, 40, and daughter-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41. The latter’s dress commemorated William’s late mother Princess Diana (1961-1997).

Kate arrives at the important appointment in a black and white polka dot dress, pairing a black fascinator with a white feather. The midi dress, which the British Daily Mail says is by Alessandra Rich, was reminiscent of a Victor Gemstone gown her late mother-in-law wore at Royal Ascot in 1988. At that time, Diana combined a sweeping hat with her dotted dress, which, like Kate’s dress, was gathered at the waist. Kate chooses white heels with black lace for her polka dot dress, like Diana did back then. Another tribute to her mother-in-law: the white pearl earrings also belonged to William’s late mother.
In the polka dot dress, Kate is reminiscent of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

This is not Kate’s first time wearing the dress
It’s not the first time Kate has woken up to Diana’s iconic polka dot dress in an Alessandra Rich dress – even for the same occasion the late princess chose it. Prince William’s wife attended Ascot in June 2022 in a white polka-dot dress with brown dots and long sleeves by designer Alessandra Rich – although the dots were even larger at the time. She also wore a brown fascinator with white flowers and a pair of fine pearl earrings.
