As the wife of the heir to the throne, Catherine, Princess of Wales plays a particularly important role in the British royal family. But she also seems to pull the strings behind the scenes and, as a peacemaker, once even calmed down the tense relationship between Prince William and King Charles.

You can rely on Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41. Both husband Prince William, 40, and father-in-law King Charles, 74, can be sure of that. With his enthronement, the mother of three children moves further into focus and takes on even more important tasks in the service of the crown. But Catherine is also extremely important behind the scenes for the monarch and his heir to the throne. She even saved the relationship between the two once.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, calmed the waves

According to author and commentator Angela Levin, the 41-year-old was instrumental in smoothing things over between Charles and William when their relationship was not at its best. She struggled to spend time with both William’s father and stepmother, Queen Camilla, 75, becoming a peacemaker within the family.

Tensions between father and son are believed to have escalated in 2005 when Charles married Camilla. In her revised biography “Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort,” the royal expert tells how Kate used common interests to befriend Charles and Camilla and organize private meetings – without William.

“Happily, time has helped improve Camilla’s relationship with senior royals, including Prince William, thanks largely to the Princess of Wales being a peacemaker,” Levin writes, according to the Daily Mail. “Camilla is also a go-between and doesn’t hold grudges. They both believe supporting their husbands is a priority.”

Catherine goes to art exhibitions with her in-laws

Above all, Catherine benefits from their shared love of art, which her loved one does not necessarily share. “She often attends exhibitions both privately and publicly with the Queen and King Charles,” says Angela Levin.

The fact that Charles’ love for Camilla initially caused friction with his sons has been an open secret since the publication of Prince Harry’s, 38, memoir “Spare” (German title: “Reserve”). He and his older brother “begged” their father not to marry them, he described in his book, comparing them to the “wicked stepmother” in fairy tales.
