Hardly anyone notices her, and yet she has been at the side of Catherine, Princess of Wales, 40, during public appearances for twelve years. Sergeant Emma Probert has now been honored by Prince William, 40, for her important services as a personal bodyguard.

When Catherine joins the crowd of fans, Emma’s eyes are focused and carefully scan the surroundings. It is she who is responsible for the personal safety of one of the world’s most famous royals. An honorable and important task that Probert has been carrying out with the utmost care for twelve years now. In recognition of her service, Prince William inducted her into the Royal Victorian Order in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on October 13, 2022.

The Royal Victorian Order is a British order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1896. It is only awarded to people who have personally served the monarch or a member of the royal family.

Emma accompanied Catherine on her first royal steps

This includes Sergeant Emma Probert, who has now also received the award. She has been assigned to Catherine’s Royal Protection Unit since 2010. Since her marriage to William in 2011, Emma has accompanied the princess to numerous royal appearances – marking her first steps as an official member of the royal family.

Probert is a member of Scotland Yard’s security force and trained in martial arts, according to the Daily Mail. She carries a pistol and a stun gun with her whenever she follows Catherine, Princess of Wales. Rumor has it that Emma is also wearing a stab vest. Before keeping William’s wife safe, Emma Probert worked as a bodyguard to Princess Beatrice, 34, and Princess Eugenie, 32.
