“I want to be conquered”

The signs point to a new beginning. Cathy Hummels would even go all out for Mr. Right.
It took Cathy Hummels, 36, a long time to get over her divorce from footballer Mats Hummels, 35, after 13 years together. Now, almost two years later, she is open to love again. Mats is moving to AS Roma, her son Ludwig, 6, has just started school, and Cathy is concentrating on projects like her “Wiesn Bummel”, this year under the motto “Style meets Tradition”.

GALA: When are you traditional?
Cathy Hummels: I am very traditional in raising my son. I pay attention to routines, set bedtimes, strict routines and good behavior.
Which rituals from your childhood do you pass on to Ludwig?
Having dinner together is important to me. But I now see traditions differently. I am 36, divorced and more or less a single parent. I do not reflect the traditional image of a family.
What are you aiming for today?
I’m not committing myself to anything. What’s important to me is that my son is happy with it.
Does that mean that Ludwig has a say in the choice of men?
I have to see what the mood is like between the two of them. Someone once tried to ingratiate themselves with Ludwig by giving him presents – but he saw through it! (laughs)
She does not rule out a second wedding
What is the current situation with the search for men?
I want to be conquered and would never make the first move. Also because I am extremely shy. I have tried online dating, but that is out of the question for me.
Would a second wedding be conceivable?
I’m not ruling anything out. I could imagine getting married again or even having more children. But that would have to happen soon. At 40, it would be too late for me personally. For the right person, I would even give up the name Hummels and take a new one. But first marriage, then children.

Yes. I also like to take on the traditional role in a relationship, for example I like to cook for my husband. I like to spoil my loved ones. Of course, that only works if he is a gentleman. I don’t let myself be bossed around, I am an independent woman. (laughs)
