Cathy Hummels was brutally attacked in Thailand. “At some point I realized that this is a matter of life and death,” said the moderator.

Cathy Hummels (34) was brutally attacked and robbed in Thailand last Saturday. She was hit on the head from behind and the perpetrator hit her several times. “At some point I realized that this is a matter of life and death and I started to fight back,” she describes the terrible situation in the “Image” interview.

Hummels yelled at the man, who grabbed her cell phone and then ran away. “I gathered all my strength and ran back to the hotel. The whole time I only thought about my little son Ludwig.” Once there, she reported the robbery to the police and filed a complaint. “My head and body still hurt, but it will be fine,” said Hummels bravely. “But the shock is very deep. I’m grateful to be alive.”

As the presenter of the new season of the reality show “Kampf der Realitystars” (RTLzwei), she spent several weeks in front of the camera in the Southeast Asian country. The drama happened the night before departure. “I wanted to say goodbye to this idyllic place with a walk on the beach. I will certainly never forget this moment,” she continued.

“The attack on Cathy shocked us”

The broadcaster was also affected. “The attack on Cathy shocked us,” said an RTLzwei spokesman for the tabloid. One is relieved that Hummels is “doing well given the circumstances. Our teams have been received incredibly warmly and hospitably over the weeks in Thailand.” The presenter is now recovering from the exertion in Dubai and is celebrating a reunion with her son Ludwig (4).
