Cathy and Mats Hummels celebrate New Year’s Eve together – and defy the rumors
Last year there were rumors that Cathy and Mats Hummels had marital problems. Many a fan on Instagram even used the word “separation”. The two never explicitly commented on this.
What caught the eye: The Dortmund kicker and the influencer shared fewer and fewer pictures of each other on social media – especially since Mats from FC Bayern Munich moved back to his old club Borussia Dortmund – and thus also changed their place of residence. His childhood sweetheart stayed behind with his son Ludwig in the same Munich house.

But for a few weeks now, several shared Instagram photos and video recordings have been suggesting that the couple seem to be spending more time together again. Only a few days before Christmas, Cathy surprised her mats with a “Harry Potter” birthday party in Dortmund – and even danced for him.
Now the family of three is spending the holidays in sunny Dubai – just like years before. For a family picture on New Year’s Eve, Cathy tellingly wrote the Buddhist slogan: “Happy New Year! ‘No matter how hard the past was, you can always start over” and links her husband’s Instagram profile “@ aussenrist15”.
Actress Nina Bott, 44, and dancer Nikeata Thompson, 41, are delighted with the photo and hand out red hearts. One user is also happy – so much so that she wants more children for the couple: “You are a very nice family! Stay together and have another baby! Happy New Year.”
Another one responds to the rumors of past months and comments: “I very much hope that you are a couple again! And not a would-be influencer has something to report [sic]. “Whether that’s true, what the followers suspect under some of Cathy’s Instagram posts, probably only she and Mats know – who will begin in 2022 with the words” start over “.
