Cat’s Eyes on TF1: the series renewed before even being broadcast!

Whatever its success, TF1’s series adaptation of the cult cartoon Cat’s Eyes will have at least several seasons, we learned this week in the press.

TF1 firmly believes in it. As we told you recently, the channel began filming its next event series, entitled Cat’s Eyes, on October 19. As a reminder, this is an adaptation in live action (i.e. in live action) from the cult Japanese cartoon of the same name broadcast in the 1980s.

Cat’s Eyes originally tells the story of three sisters, Tamara, Alexia and Sylia, who run a café together. At least during the day. Because at night, they become formidable thieves, who only seek to recover the works that belonged to their father, a German artist who disappeared without a trace during the Second World War.

Tamara, Alexia and Sylia hope that by bringing together his entire collection, they will be able to find him.

The series, made up of eight 52-minute episodes, is expected for fall 2024, first on TF1, then internationally on the American streaming platform Amazon Prime Video, following a partnership with the channel.

At least 3 seasons of Cat’s Eyes planned!

Fans of Tsukasa Hōjō’s original manga will have to be patient before being able to discover the series, the return of which was made official last spring.

Nevertheless, their wait should be rewarded: according to our colleague from TV 7 daysthe three main actresses Constance Labbé, Camille Lou and Claire Romain have not signed for one, nor two, but three seasons!

Proof that TF1 does not take this adaptation lightly… and that it wants to make it as profitable as possible, given its significant cost.

“It will undoubtedly be one of the most expensive series that we will produce next year with extremely large production budgets. But it is to be able to do justice to this franchise which is very prestigious”assured, last June, Ara Aprikian, deputy general director of content for the TF1 group, to our colleague from West France.

“Exceptional decor, exceptional conditions… In fact, what is expensive is everything that is aroundsays Medhi Sabbar, co-producer of Cat’s Eyes, to Télé 7 Jours. Filming in an empty, unlit Eiffel Tower isn’t very interesting. So we had to come with 200 extras and as many cameras and technicians. That’s all that makes this shoot extraordinary.”.

Spectacular scenes that we will have time to appreciate.
