Caught thanks to witness – alcoholic driver without a “license” fled after taxi crash

The police were looking for a fugitive driver in Hall in Tyrol on Saturday night: After the suspect (18) drove a car into a taxi, he and his two companions ran away. Thanks to a witness, the trio was caught. The suspected driver was drunk – and does not have a driver’s license.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., according to police, the 18-year-old local was driving east on the B171 Tiroler Straße when he hit a taxi in front of him near Hall. The taxi driver suffered significant injuries as a result of the collision. He had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. The trio fled towards the train station. Meanwhile, the suspected driver of the accident and his companion ran away. “Immediately after the accident, he and his two passengers got out of the vehicle and fled from the scene of the accident towards the train station,” say investigators. This was observed and reported by a witness. “In the course of the search measures initiated, the passengers and later the driver of the accident were identified and stopped,” the investigators continued.Drunk and driving without a driver’s licenseThe 18-year-old suspect was drunk at the time of the accident.
