According to official information, the Belarusian transport minister dies unexpectedly. He was under international sanctions after the Minsk regime forced a plane to land to arrest a journalist in 2021.
According to official information, Belarusian Transport Minister Alexei Avramenko died unexpectedly. He was 47 years old, according to the state news agency Belta reported. Avramenko died on Tuesday. There was no further information about the death of the minister.
According to the information, Avramenko had been Minister of Transport and Communications since 2019. Before that he was Vice President from 2013 to 2016. In the years before that, after completing his studies, he had worked in various positions in the ministry.
International sanctions were imposed on the 47-year-old minister. As Minister of Transport, he was responsible for the illegal diversion of passenger flight FR4978 to Minsk Airport on May 23, 2021, which led to the arrest of opposition journalist Raman Pratasevich, co-founder of the Belarusian exile medium Nexta, according to the portal Kyiv Independent reported.
The advisor to the Ukrainian interior minister pointed out on Twitter that this was the second sudden and so far unexplained death of an official from the apparatus of ruler Alexander Lukashenko within a year. In November 2022, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makey died of unknown causes.
