CCleaner 6.0 introduces two major new features aimed at all PC users, new and old.
A patented feature to sleep all unnecessary processes during your use
The first major feature of this iteration is called “Performance Optimizer”. This device, patented by the publisher’s teams, will analyze the various processes in progress on your machine in the background, and these can be very numerous as you install applications on your pc.
CCleaner will then give you the option of switching these unnecessary software and services to standby mode to regain performance. The interface will present them to you in the form of a list, ranked according to the impact on the performance of your computer.
“Performance Optimizer” has the particularity, according to its publisher, of “waking up” applications immediately when you need them. Opening a software will automatically bring it out of standby mode, without having to go through the CCleaner dashboard.
Performance and autonomy gains observed on old and new PCs
This new feature seems to have a real impact on the performance of even older PCs. To demonstrate the effectiveness of its solution, CCleaner publishes several benchmarks carried out on 2015 machines with an Intel 4-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 500 GB of HDD disk space, as well as on current laptops. Each computer has between 50 and 60 applications installed.
On the 2015 model, the startup goes from 150 seconds to 42 seconds with CCleaner 6.0, which is a 72% improvement. The 2022 model goes from 33 seconds to 20 seconds, a more measured but not insignificant drop of 40%.
The performance of the laptop PC released in 2015 increases at the same time by 34%. “Performance Optimizer” finally has effects on the autonomy of the most recent machines, with almost an hour saved on the most recent models.
CCleaner 6.0 also features an improved Software Updater, which automatically updates applications on your PC. This major update adds 50 additional software to its list, such as Adobe Reader or WinZip.
