CD Projekt Red announces the start of a new license, Project Hadar

CD Project Red today was holding a new financial statement, and now that Cyberpunk 2077 is back on top of charts, it was now or never to flirt with investors and potential new recruits. The studio gave an update on its upcoming projects, with a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and no less than 5 new games The Witcherbut we also find that CD Projekt Red intends to work on a third license, which is currently named Project Hadar.

A brand new license that won’t see the light of day for a while

This is a major announcement for the studio, since following the complicated launch of Cyberpunk 2077CD Projekt Red had chosen to focus only on its two favorite licenses.

There have obviously been a few people who have changed their minds internally, since we learn today the existence of Project Hadarwhich will be a separate license and will therefore be the studio’s third license. This new project is entirely developed internally, and this license has been under consideration since the end of 2021.

Don’t expect to know more for a while, since the studio indicates that this project is still in its conceptual phase, and that even pre-production has not started. There is not even a game yet, that is to say. It is for the moment a very small team working on the development of this new license, of which we know nothing.

We necessarily wonder if this license is not actually already known, since let us remember, The Witcher is adapted from the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, while Cyberpunk 2077 finds its origin in the role-playing game Cyberpunk 2020. But CD Projekt Red seems to specify that this license is designed from the ground upwhich suggests that it is quite new.
