CD Projekt veterans form a studio

Some would argue that Polish studio CD Projekt doesn’t necessarily have the aura of yesteryear anymore, especially after the chaotic launch of Cyberpunk 2077. But a new studio could bring you some comfort.

Alumni from CD Projekt (and other teams) wanted to create a brand new independent studio: Rebel Wolves, also based in Poland. The good news is in particular the main figure of this studio which is none other than Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the director of The Witcher 3.

An impressive team composition for Rebel Wolves

This famous rebel team is composed as follows according to the press release:

  • Design DirectoA: Daniel Sadowski (Witcher 1)
  • Narrative Director and Main Writer: Jakub Szamałek (Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077)
  • Animation Director Tamara Zawada (Witcher 3, Shadow Warrior 2)
  • Art Director : Bartlomiej Gawel (Witcher 1-3)
  • CFO : Michal Boryka

Already a project underway

The Rebel Wolves team is already at work on a new AAA RPG in a Dark Fantasy universe under Unreal Engine:

For all of us here at Rebel Wolves, video games have always been something we were meant to be, something ingrained in our DNA. We are developing a video game that we would like to play the way games should be made. We want to evolve the RPG genre by creating unforgettable stories and stirring deep emotions, while working as a tight-knit team, united by a common goal and ambition. Collectively, we envision Rebel Wolves as a place where experienced game developers can rekindle their passion, where they can focus on their craft and pour their love into a stunning and ambitious title. We want to keep it small and nimble, a place where people know and help each other.

In order to create truly great games, we don’t chase trends or numbers. Our goal is clearly defined: to create memorable games, tell moving stories and evoke visceral emotions. It’s ambitious, it’s true – and I’m glad it is. Art needs ambition. I don’t want to make another game. I want to work on titles that people will remember.

Those are some very nice words. For the moment the game in question does not have a release date.
