CDI senior: these companies and employees who have already taken the plunge

In the Senate, the amendment on the senior CDI should be discussed this weekend. The objective is to encourage companies to hire unemployed people aged at least 60, in exchange for an exemption from family contributions. And some companies have already taken the plunge, with arrangements put in place for older employees.

Allow employees at the end of their career to obtain a permanent contract until their retirement. This is what right-wing senators would like to put in place as part of the pension reform. The amendment could be examined as early as this weekend and plans to encourage companies to hire unemployed people aged at least 60 in exchange for an exemption from family contributions. The employer would therefore keep his employee until his retirement at full rate.

Facilities for seniors

This is what Dominique expected, for example, when she had to leave her company a few years ago. She has since found work as a receptionist. But, when she was already in her sixties at the time, this senior CDI would have made her job much easier. “I knew I wouldn’t have a big pension, so I had to wait for the full rate to leave, and I also wanted a fairly decent salary. Having a permanent contract helped me allowed to go up to that age because we would not have renewed my CDD”, she explains. At 65, she sometimes has memory lapses, but nothing very serious. Her boss even offers her to telecommute so that she can continue to practice.

Arrangements that Boris Couillaud also uses, at the head of a transport company for students with disabilities, and whose majority of drivers are of retirement age. “When I was in my thirties, I had this little psychological brake on hiring senior people, but gradually, we feel that we need their jobs. It is indeed a life experience, a maturity , an ability to be responsible that we are looking for”, underlines the entrepreneur.

Today, the open-ended contract remains the most popular among people aged 60 and over. But the establishment of a senior CDI is estimated at 800 million euros. A sum too high, according to the government, which opposes it for the moment.
