JThursday, May 12, the confrontation between Cédric Jubillar and a former prisoner accusing the plasterer painter of having confessed to him in prison the murder of his wife Delphine, who disappeared at the end of 2020, did not yield “much”, according to the lawyers of the defense. “Everyone remained on their positions,” said one of these lawyers, Jean-Baptiste Alary, after four hours of confrontation before the investigating judges. “We didn’t learn anything,” he added.
For Alexandre Martin, another lawyer for Cédric Jubillar, this ex-convict “claims to have been the concealer of confidences which are analyzed by the prosecution as confessions by Cédric Jubillar”. But “none of these confidences corresponds to a reality”. Following the statements of this man who occupied a cell next to that of Cédric Jubillar, extensive searches to try to find the body of the missing nurse had been undertaken in vain in early 2022.

Delphine Jubillar, still not found
The testimony of the former detainee had also caused, in mid-December 2021, the placement in police custody of the new companion of Cédric Jubillar. Based on this testimony, she was likely to know where to find Delphine’s body. However, she emerged free, after a day and a half in police custody, without being charged. “We are several months away from the revelations of this fellow prisoner,” recalled Emmanuelle Franck, also a defense lawyer.
For her, “we work a bit like a system of evidence from the Old Regime, at the time when four hearsays were worth proof”. Delphine Jubillar, who worked as a night nurse in a clinic in Albi, disappeared in the middle of the night from the family home in Cagnac-les-Mines (Tarn) in December 2020. Her husband, with whom she was divorcing, is the main suspect. He was indicted for murder and imprisoned on June 18, 2021. He is being held in solitary confinement and continues to claim to be innocent.
However, justice believes that the investigators have provided enough evidence on the guilt of the 34-year-old plasterer painter to keep him in prison, while his lawyers claim that the file contains no irrefutable evidence. Cédric Jubillar’s term of deposit expires on June 18. He cannot therefore remain in pre-trial detention beyond without a debate before the judge of freedoms. His lawyers are waiting for the latter to summon them to ask once again for the release of their client.
