Cédric O on a mission for the European Space Agency

The former Secretary of State for Digital chose to leave politics at the end of Macron’s last five-year term.

The return to the private sector is slightly postponed. The former Secretary of State in charge of Digital Cédric O joined the High Level Advisory Group on Space Exploration of the European Space Agency (ESA) at the start of the school year. This group, made up of thirteen people among former European government officials and researchers, will be tasked with providing an assessment “independent and objectiveof European space exploration and its objectives.

It’s a way of continuing to serve the general interest“, estimates Cédric O, specifying that this mission, which must last until next January, is not “not paid“.

Cédric O quickly decided not to return to a new term at the end of Macron’s first five-year term. The former treasurer of the En Marche campaign in 2017, then adviser to Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée, had informed the president of this decision more than a year before the end of the five-year term, saying he wanted to return to the private sector. This project, deferred by the mission to the European Space Agency, “remains relevant“says the interested party.

Serial conversions

Several former ministers who worked with Emmanuel Macron have also chosen to leave politics at the end of their government and parliamentary experience. Among them, Mounir Mahjoubi, who also passed through the post of Secretary of State for Digital, who for his part is embarking on entrepreneurship. Former Agriculture Minister Julien Denormandie has joined the start-up Sweep, which helps companies reduce their carbon emissions; the former delegate minister in charge of transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, has also joined a start-up, Hopium, specializing in luxury hydrogen cars.

These last two reconversions were closely examined by the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP) which issued “reservationson these two conversions. She also rejected Jean-Baptiste Djebbari’s project to head the space division wanted by the shipowner CMA CGM.
