Cedric The Entertainer will host this year’s Emmy Awards in September – with a live audience.

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented in Los Angeles on September 19, 2021. And after last year the big award ceremony and the show running on the red carpet were canceled due to the corona, something like normality seems to be returning to the Emmys this year. Like the granting one Television Academy announced, a live audience will be allowed again. The nominees will also be there in person again.

In addition, the makers announced that actor Cedric The Entertainer (57) will host the award ceremony. He succeeds comedian Jimmy Kimmel (53), who guided through the event in its digital form in 2020.

Television as a binder

For the 57-year-old, it was an “unbelievable honor” to lead through the ceremony, the actor said in a statement. “This year, which has been like a roller coaster for all of us, television has helped us connect as a society like never before,” continued Cedric The Entertainer. Not only did it entertain us, but it was instructive in many ways.

The 2021 Emmy will again take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The nominees will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, July 15th.
