Cell phone manufacturers apparently bankrupt: These smartphone brands are threatened with extinction

The British cell phone manufacturer Bullitt is apparently on the verge of extinction. On LinkedIN, a leading employee reports that the company ceased operations at the end of January and the entire workforce was laid off. There is no official confirmation from the company yet.

However, if the manufacturer were to end, this would primarily change the market for outdoor smartphones. Bullitt was a company that specialized in the development and production of robust smartphones and cell phones. These were sold under the brands “CAT” and “Land Rover”, among others. Most recently, the company also revived the “Defy” brand in cooperation with Motorola. The Motorola Defy was one of the first outdoor smartphones in 2010.

At CES 2023, Bullitt tried a change of direction and presented “Bullitt Satellite Connect,” a satellite-based service for sending messages. This is to be transferred to a new company, reports the US online magazine The Verge, citing the British daily newspaper “The Telegraph”.

Since Bullitt has not yet commented on the rumors, it remains unclear what the possible bankruptcy means for owners of a CAT or Land Rover smartphone. We will update this article as soon as more information becomes available.
