Centrica: major LNG purchase agreement in Louisiana

(CercleFinance.com) – Centrica announces the signing of an agreement with Delfin Midstream for the purchase of one million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over 15 years, in the water port deep in Delfin, off the coast of Louisiana.

This agreement provides Delfin with a key new customer that will facilitate a final investment decision for the first floating LNG export facility in the United States by the end of this year, with operations expected to begin in 2026.

This agreement representing an amount of seven billion pounds sterling will therefore support the expansion of LNG export capacities of the United States, and should help Centrica to strengthen the energy security of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The British energy group recalls having concluded, last month, an additional supply agreement of four billion pounds with Equinor to supply 4.5 million homes until 2025.
